Follow the Track Log from Frisco south on route 9 to a left turn onto Tiger Road. This leads to a left turn onto the North Fork of the Swan Trail. This trail is mostly in the trees and passes several old cabins. Stay left on the track and it will break out of tree line in a remote area. There is an interesting ruin of a mine at the end of this section. If it has been raining there are some muddy spots.
Follow the track log back the way you come to two old cabins and cross the creek to begin the ascent to Sts. Johns trail. There are some steep climbs in this section. Above tree line turn right and look at an old cabin sitting in the open that is still used. Follow the track log on to Sts. Johns trail. This is one of my favorite routes in this area. Sts. Johns is a drive through tundra at 12,000 to 13,000 feet. The scenic views are spectacular. The trail descends into Montezuma and returns to Frisco on I-70 at exit 203.
