Follow the track log from Breckenridge north on Route 9 to Tiger Road and turn right. The trail ascends in the trees foe a considerable distance before breaking out of the trees. There is a steep, challenging climb with some loose material. There is an easier bypass to the right. When we reached the top of the trail we encountered a heard of 40 mountain goats. Most of the time I go to Glacier Ridge I see the goats.
The goats will approach your vehicle or they will approach you if you are on foot. In early spring the heard has many baby goats that will get close enough to get excellent photographs. I have never had a problem but remember these are wild animals and they may be unpredictable. This loop trail will return to Breckenridge on the North fork of the Swan.
